This page is devoted to the buildup of my new turbo kit. Motor is 312 cui, A4 block, Sonny Bryant billet crank, Carillo rods, Ross Pistons, Vic JR. cylinder heads cnc ported by Fox Lake, TFS-R lower with Vortech Igloo air to water. Turbo is a Precision Turbo 91.5 mm unit. All headers and turbo plumbing is mild steel. Primaries are 1-3/4", crossover is 3", downpipe starts as 5" and immediately is reduced to 4".

The original plan called for the downpipe to be routed through the suspension, at the edge of the control arm. I was going to install a front coil-over kit and remove the factory coil spring.  My fabricator didn't like that route and wanted to try routing it the way that it shows in the pictures below. The downpipe has .25-.5" clearance around it. This route would most likely only work on a setup where a motor plate was used to mount the motor. To make this work, my fabricator, cut the motor mount stand, off of the passenger side. I have no regrets on that decision.

I think both the turbo and the igloo are as big as the motor!

Good shot of the crossover/merge pipe. Note: it is being swapped to v-band clamps. Just a little misscommunication. This is what the headers started out as. :) New overhead shot with pipe to intake tack-welded, and wastegate plumbing tack welded.

Here you can see the downpipe after it dumps in front of the starter. There is a 4" bullet muffler on the end of it.   That's some nice tig-welding

As usual I have been neglecting the site and somewhat neglecting the car. At this point I have the interior all back in the car. All of the wiring inside the car is taken care of. I have just finished mounting the tranny cooler, electric fan and plumbing the drain line for the turbo. Hopefully, this week I can wire the electric fan and water pump as well as get the tranny cooler lines made up. Things are starting to come along slowly, but surely.

New pic under the hood with the exhaust coated My oil drain line from the turbo that goes through the motor plate My radiator fan mount. The new turbo setup didn't leave much room on the engine side of the radiator. This fan will work as a pusher or a puller hopefully it will work well.

Got the tranny cooler mounted now. Just gotta run the lines. I had to clearance the some of the plastic support of the nose of the car, to clear the tranny cooler

Like normal, I've been dragging my feet on working on the car and working on this website. Last weekend I got the 9" rear-end installed. Had some small issues with it. The Wolfe upper control arms came into contact with the mounting ears at the top of the rear-end. A little grinding and it solved that problem. Too bad I wasted a bunch of time before I figured it out. Also, I found out tonight that the waterlogs for my Igloo cooler (on top of the intake) need to either be completely re-done or have a new fitting welded on each one. One fitting on each log doesn't match up with the fittings on the cooler. I would take a picture of this, but the battery for my Nikon just died. Also, just got a set of sheet metal valve covers from C&B motorsports. Only $155 shipped to my door. They look great and have billet rails. http://www.candbmotorsports.com/images/C&BProducts/Valve%20Covers/P1010004.JPG

A rear shot of how the car looks with the MT 275/60/15 drag radials Notice the tires are tucked nicely under the fender wells. The only way they would fit any better was if the car was mini-tubbed with a narrowed rear-end. The car sits a little high in the front, but I still have the stock coil springs up there. I have a set of coil-overs for the front. Once they are on, I'll drop it down a little bit.

A current shot under the hood. A shot of the 9" rear-end that I just got in.  This rear-end has a set of 31 spline Moser axles, Strange spool, Strange Nodular center section, 3.55 gears, and Wilwood dynalite disc-brakes. Note: picture looks a little distorted due to using a 28mm lens.

Major things I have left to do... nothing. It now runs!

The front sits low and 27.5 MT ET Front tire fills up the wheel-well. That's a 5" H.O. Fibertrends cowl hood. It clears the Vortech Igloo by about 1/2"-3/4" Just a lil' bit of rake. The stance is about perfect.

My sheetmetal valvecovers I got from Injected65 at turbomustangs.com. Brian Sells at Redline Racecars welded the filler cap and the breather fitting on for me.
